Where'd you go?

I've been a busy bumble bee...I'm nearly finished my training in general piercing, and will soon move onto tongues, genital, and surface work, and from there progress to microdermals! But like I said lots has been going on, so rather than doing my usual and typing an essay like in school (anyone remember doing their Monday morning 'This is how I spent my weekend' jotter-work...?) I shall reveal all through the power of dance photography...

Even though dance would be just as fun.

I took Brandon trick-or-treating for Hallowe'en at Kev, one of our tattooist's house! We went with his two daughters (who B ADORES) and he had a sugar-rushed blast :D We are still polishing off the e-number filled goodness... Spiderman and Cat-Mam!

I started skating! After saying for ages I wanted to start roller derby, I've joined the social skate on a Thursday (which was terrifying after ten years off wheels!) and train with the men's team on a Friday, and Fresh Meat for the local women's derby team is in January...no serious injuries sustained so far, I must not be doing it right! And as daft as I look, that sitting-on-the-toilet look has to be maintained pretty much the whole time...!

This photo being posted to instagram led to me doing hair and make up for two of my friends as part of their 'rockabilly' style photoshoot!! A local photographer got in contact and wanted me to take part :D It's tomorrow, and we're going all out for it! This is where I thank my past 2yr involvement with the beauty blogging community in knowing what to do...kind of.
My best friends got married! <3 p="p">
On the 7th of November, I gave Leigh-Ann away to Johnny Cash's 'Get Rhythm', while Andrew was Ben's best man. It was a lovely wee quite ceremony, and a messy wedding night - needless to say, we got the bride and groom trashed haha! We then watched their two cats Roxy (who is Tilly's sister!) and Ricky, and Buttercup the ferret (Mrs Bitey for short) the ferret while they spent the week in Yorkshire with Ben's family :) We left them a voicemail of the animals saying hello, haha! Congratulations guys <3 p="p">

I don't have any pictures yet, but I've been commissioned to make my first skirt for someone! One of our regular customers got talking to me about ways we express ourselves creatively (and how we can't draw to save ourselves) and I mentioned I make skirts, and ended up agreeing to make one for her - I'm going for a Doctor Who themed circle skirt, and now the patterns done I just need to get cracking on sewing it! Woohoo!

And now, a not-so-positive note...

I try to keep my blog as positive as possible, but this is something that's hit me on another level.
A couple of weeks ago I received an email that I guess was in response to my first Modified Mondays post, and so far it's my only one.
It was from a bloke in England, whose girlfriend is (well, now 'was') a reader of ScarletPout. She saw what I said about 'scratchers' (unlicensed tattooists who operate from home and outside the law) and told him, and he kicked off...basically because he was one. He took offence to my use of the word and likened it to racism (EH?) and basically called me a smug bitch, saying his girlfriend was sick of me going on and on about my apprenticeship and how sickly and arrogant I seemed to be about it all, thinking I am high and mighty and better than everyone.
It hurt me to receive this, my second ever piece of hatemail. I'm not a negative person, and a few years ago I'd have cried and deleted my blog and given up. But now, I'm much stronger and thicker skinned, and dealt with him. I told him if I seemed smug, it's because I'm allowed to be - I've burst my ass for the past three and a half years to get to where I am just now, and I've worked hard, and I feel like I deserve to feel at least a little proud of myself to be in the position I am today. I have my self respect and I have new-found strength and confidence largely in part to my chosen career, and from going about it in the right way. I have my morals and I have my dignity and I have my pride intact knowing I can feel my words ring true when I give advice and aftercare and perform my work on customers, and I don't think that's a bad thing - if anything I think it's a great thing and I'm not about to be sorry for it.

Glad to get that out of my system!
Anyway guys, I have some fun things planned (I had no energy over the Halloween period, kind of sad I never really pushed myself to post some cool looks and ideas like last year!) and the Autumn series fell through, but moving on!

How are you guys?

Oh, and as apt as the title is, it's from the lyrics to this BEAST of a song by The Used, on the Resident Evil: Apocalypse soundtrack which I rediscovered a while ago. The ResiEvil soundtracks are full of amazing early 00's music and some sweet remixes too, go check them out!

Lots of love,
Amii
xoxo

  1. I'm glad you told that scratcher and his girlfriend where to go! If someone wants to unfollow your blog just because of that then they are idiots. You are more than entitled to voice your own opinions on your own blog.
You don't bang on about your apprenticeship either, but in an industry that's so hard to get into and is such hard work, why wouldn't you talk about how proud you are of getting there? I don't understand people sometimes! Seriously I'm glad you reacted differently than you said you would have done previously- these people aren't worth it. I for one would love to read more modified Mondays and hear more about your apprenticeship and see some of your work! Xx

    1. Thanks doll! I'm allowed to be proud of myself! I'm 20 years old and progressing in the job of my dreams, one that's HARD to get into (as you well know) and I'll be damned if I can't be a little smug! haha.
Where before I'd have shrunk away and given up I replied, not abusively but gave him what for and warned him if he contacted me again I'd be contacting the police. It's not on - I think it's just jealousy personally, and I told him so haha xxx

  4. Ooo look at you! You look great in your skates (Sorry for the cheesy rhyming..)! I would absolutely love to do it myself but alas, I haven't even heard of there being a Roller Derby team in Ireland, let alone in my little town! Boo! You are right not to feel sorry about giving people GOOD advice about body mods, what an eejit to attack you for that same reason! If I were him, I definitely wouldn't be proud of myself for being a 'scratcher' (Never heard that term before, but I would never in a million years go to an unlicensed tattooist!) and definitely wouldn't berate someone for (wisely) telling people about the dangers of getting a tattoo from one! And also, not that you do, but why shouldn't you be able to 'go on and on' about your apprenticeship??? It's YOUR blog (You're not forcing anyone to read it), and your career is a HUGE part of your life so why wouldn't you share that on here?? That whole point just baffled me! Ugh, just forget about it lovely, keep on doing what you're doing! ♥

    1. Thankyou for the positive, encouraging words Aoife! It's been a while since I've heard from you, I'll drop you a wee email!

You'd be surprised, roller derby is taking off in a big way - and if it's hit Scotland in the past few years it's definitely hit Ireland! I'll do a wee bit research and drop you a line...it's so much fun, I haven't felt this great in years and it's only been a few weeks, I just want to be on my skates all the time but alas outdoor skating is out of the question...bloody Scotland raining all the time, who'd have thought it? ;) xxxx

  5. I hadn't heard of the roller derby until recently. My hubby is in a band and he is actually doing a gig to fundraise for the girls team here in Aberdeen on Saturday night

  7. How cute is your Halloween outfit - and go you on your rollar skates!

Also I love how you dealt with your hate mail - I bet your answer properly shut him up :) What he's doing is illegal! You've done so well and whilst I don't think you seem smug or arrogant or go 'on and on' I'd say you have every right to seem smug and go on and on if you want to!
