This Is Halloween.

It's nearly here, the best day of the year! We've been busy decorating the house - tell you what, Poundland has a lot to answer for, their stuff is amazing this year! Brandon is going as Jack Skellington, and I've almost finished his costume..but as usual, I'm struggling with what to go as. I've got a Halloween party the Saturday before, at Spider's Web - as it's in Edinburgh, we have a long journey there and back, and it needs to be super comfortable and also quite airy as it gets really warm in there!

Kate's Clothing currently have some awesome pieces for sale that are perfect for this time of year (or, if you're that way inclined as I am, all year >:D) I think anyone who was growing up interested in gothic clothing in the past ten years or so knew about KC, and lusted after the items on their site! Now they're stocking more than ever, and this time of year just seems rather fitting for some of their stock...here's my top ten favourite products!

They actually sent me a dress to review, which I think has solved all my party problems...

NECCESSARY EVIL are a brand I've known about for a while, but haven't really bought anything more than shorts or a skirt from (even then, it was years ago!) but they've really upped their game in recent years, and are producing some top quality beautiful pieces. I chose this gorgeous mermaid dress, as I think it mixes spooky and classy perfectly.

The full skirt is perfect - floaty enough to move with you when you're dancing around, but the fabric is weighted enough to stop it from sticking up at the back when you sit down. And can we just talk about that pattern? Perfect colour, and awesome creepy mermaids - Ariel doesn't even get a look in here!

The deep neckline was something I was worried about, but the full skirt and capped sleeves balance it perfectly so it doesn't look 'too much'. What I will say is that I felt the sizes run a little bit big, so check the sizing for definite on the website! I bought a large as my chest was too big for the medium, and I didn't want to have a major boob situation on the big night, but as usual it's a bit big for my waist...oh boobs, always in the way...! Thankfully the dress has a wide tie, so I could pull it tight and accentuate my waist while adding a cute bow to the back.

I dressed this down with a long black wig (Winter, c/o Geisha Wigs), a teal cardigan, and my trusty old Docs in these photos, and I'd say it wears well. I always worry when getting big dresses that I'll never get my wear out them, but this is actually quite wearable! However, for the Halloween party, I'll be dressing it up big style...
Nails: Barry M glitter & Collection 2000 hot nails in 'teal'
Wig: Jewel by Geisha Wigs
Heels: Louis Vuitton, charity shop
Can you say 'Evil Mermaid'? :D

And lastly, Kate's Clothing have been kind enough to provide me with a discount code for you all! So if you enter
at the checkout before the 10th of November, you'll get 10% off anything on the site!

DISCLAIMER: This item was sent to me to review, but it does not alter my opinion on the product. As normal, my opinion written here is my own, and I was not paid to write this post. I just love sharing awesome clothing with you guys! x

As if you couldn't already guess, I'm a big fan of Halloween. I actually have a lot of Autumn and Halloween related posts in the pipeline (GUESS WHO GOT HER GROOVE BACK? :D), so it feels a little weird to be getting excited for the C-word this early in the year.
There are only two things I love about Christmas: the food, and the Lush goodies. Since the Stirling store opened nearly four years ago, I've been drawn back every single time like a moth to the flame to stock up on the Christmas editions. Not that I don't love Lush all year round - but there's something that makes me feel like I can justify spending a bomb on myself while I'm buying other people gifts from there. It's justified, I've worked hard/I'm tired from all the shopping and deserve a treat/freaking SNOW FAIRY. Take your pick, I've used those excuses before and I'll stick to them!

The lovely Iona of Iona Blog recently started there and runs the Stirling Lush's twitter account, so of course I was through like a shot when she mentioned it on Thursday! And by god, did they work hard at those wonderful displays...
More after the jump!

OOTD: The "New Body, New Brain, & New Beginnings" Edition

Life has been pretty hectic as of late. I'm finally beginning to relax a little bit though, and settle into a new routine. I'm finding solace in things I stopped enjoying from being stressed: I've started making clothes again, wearing make up, and I'm now trying to get back into the swing of blogging. It's like I know everything I want to write, but have no idea how I want to type it out: you wouldn't believe the amount of 'FRESH MEAT! DERBY! WOOHOO!' kind of posts I have started and just left in the 'draft post' graveyard because I have no idea how to organise my scrambled thoughts (there's about 8 or 9....)

So of course, after a stressful period in my life, feeling slightly lost and empty after leaving a dream career, what's a lass to do when a tax rebate falls in her lap? Spend it on herself for once, that's what. I don't think I really knew the meaning of "retail therapy" until last month...
Tonnes of new fabric for making things, a new bowler hat (who'd ever thought I'd be the type?!), a beautiful new wig (with five more on the way!), brooches and such. HEAVEN. Obviously I bought some derby related things (namely booty shorts, new pads and lace)...which brings me around to the main subject.

The reason I chose the title as well, is because a few weeks ago I posted this picture with a ridiculously happy caption.

For OOTD purposes...
